International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

25 November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a global reminder that violence against women and girls is not only unacceptable—it is a serious human rights violation.

Across Australia and around the world, this day encourages communities, organisations, and governments to come together to raise awareness, support survivors, and advocate for safer and more respectful environments for all women.

The campaign theme often uses the colour orange, symbolising hope and a brighter future free from violence. Many landmarks are lit up in orange, and community groups host events, discussions, and education programs to highlight the importance of prevention and early intervention.

Here in our community, this day is an opportunity to reflect on how we can each contribute to creating a safer society—whether by supporting someone experiencing violence, learning about available services, or promoting respect in our homes and workplaces.

Ending violence against women requires collective action.
By speaking up, supporting one another, and fostering respectful relationships, we move closer to a world where all women and girls can live safely, confidently, and free from fear.

(International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women)’**로, 전 세계가 여성과 소녀에게 가해지는 폭력을 끝내기 위해 연대하는 의미 있는 날입니다.
